A very rare original Reduction Gear from a Schneider Trophy Curtiss CR-3 Sea Plane.
Circa - 1923.
The CR-3 utilised a Curtiss 18.8 litre water-cooled V12 engine, known as the D12.
The reduction gear was fitted directly between the crankshaft and propeller to gear
down the prop speed. It was gifted to William 'Bill' Boddy (Founder editor of Motorsport
Magazine & Brooklands Historian) by Douglas Bianchi in 1962, for use in the Mid
Wales Motor Museum.
