A fine WW1 period Trench Art aeroplane model based on an early Taube design.

Circa 1914 / 15.

Made by troops and local residents during the war, Trench Art came in various
forms - including aircraft such as this. Very well constructed around an original
rifle bullet that forms the fuselage. The wings and tail utilising other fragments
of gunmetal / shell casings. The rotary engine is well detailed having a wooden
propeller attached.

It has not been cleaned and so displaying a good patina.
