A rare WW1 period French aircraft compass by Vion, Paris.
Circa - 1916.
A fine instrument in very good original condition, retaining
almost all of its military black paint. The dial is clear and
readable spinning freely, pointing to magnetic north.
There are a couple of light scratches to the glass.
Originally mounted to the floor of a cockpit within
sight of the pilot.
Correctly marked "Aeronautique Militaire" proving its
use with the French Military Air Service during WW1.
