A rare early WW1 period French aircraft altimeter by Bourgeois & Chevallier, Paris.
Circa - 1915.
A particularly large instrument, the outer leather case measuring 5" (13 cm) across.
In excellent original condition - the plated case is in perfect order with a fine
The outer tan stitched leather case is also in good condition, having four metal
fixing rings to suspend the instrument within a cockpit.
Bourgeois & Chevallier were known for producing barometers and optical
instruments. The company survives in Paris to this day as an optician.
A fine quality early aviation instrument.
